Co-immunoprecipitation (Co-Immunoprecipitation, Co-IP) is a technique that uses immune binding to enrich proteins and other antigenic molecules for the study of protein–protein interactions. The principle of Co-IP is to use a specific antibody to isolate the target antigen from a complex antigen solution. Depending on the experimental purpose, the isolated antigen can be subjected to protein analysis techniques such as SDS-PAGE, protein silver staining, western blot, and protein mass spectrometry.

Experimental Procedure

Scope of application
① Capture protein-binding partners and analyze interactions between the target protein and other proteins;
② Enrich the target protein for studies of molecular weight and quantity;
③ Investigate the activation state of the target protein and post-translational modifications;
④ Analyze functional domains of the target protein.
